Abstract
The multicrystalline behaviour and the crystallinity of poly(ethylene-co-dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate) were investigated by infrared spectroscopy. The metastable monoclinic packing structure of the polyethylene segments of the copolymers usually co-exists with the stable orthorhombic form in the isotropic samples. The reason for the occurrence of this multicrystalline structure is discussed. The relative content of the monoclinic form in the crystalline regions changed greatly with the co-unit contents and the crystallization conditions. The crystallinity of the samples was also estimated by spectroscopic methods.
