Zusammenfassung

The diagnosis of septic arthritis in children presents a significant challenge: A delay of just a few days in diagnosis can lead to significant long-term damage to the affected joints, especially in the case of purulent coxitis. Therefore, the indication for a diagnostic joint puncture in the suspicion of purulent arthritis should be quickly indicated and ultimately crucial for the diagnosis and immediate initiation of therapy.
