Zusammenfassung
Eine Besonderheit der Hirnaktivierungsmessung ist, dass sie neben quantitativen Daten auch eine bildhafte Darstellung erzeugt. Dies kann auf verschiedene Weise erfolgen, die jeweils bestimmte Aspekte der Daten herausstellen. Eine zentrale Voraussetzung für das Verständnis dieser Karten ist ein Verständnis der Neuroanatomie. Hinsichtlich der Interpretation von Bildgebungsdaten wurde eine Tendenz zur Überschätzung Ihrer Aussagekraft gefunden, derer man sich bewusst sein sollte. Schließlich diskutieren wir das Problem der reversen Inferenz, dass beim Schluss von der Aktivierungslokalisation auf zugrunde liegende kognitive Prozesse auftritt.
