Zusammenfassung
Während in den 1990er-Jahren der Begriff Fatigue nur mit der Multiplen Sklerose assoziiert wurde, fällt er heute im Kontext vieler neurologischer und auch internistischer Erkrankungen. Mit der Corona-Pandemie ist der Begriff in der breiten Öffentlichkeit angekommen: Eine Fatigue im Rahmen eines Post-Covid-Syndroms oder auch die sog. „Zoom-Fatigue“ stoßen in den Medien auf großes Interesse. Damit einher geht die Gefahr des inflationären und unscharfen Begriffsgebrauchs. In das folgende Kapitel gehen langjährige Erfahrungen in der Behandlung von Patient*innen mit Fatigue unterschiedlicher Ätiologien ein. Die Erfahrung zeigt dabei, dass Fatigue und deren Relevanz für die Patient*innen für den privaten wie beruflichen Alltag nicht ausreichend oder gar einheitlich gewürdigt werden, was auch an der Schwierigkeit liegt, Fatigue zu erfassen. Für Betroffene ist es zudem häufig schwer, professionelle Ansprechpartner*innen zu finden. Deshalb ist ein pragmatisches und zielorientiertes therapeutisches Management sinnvoll.
