Abstract

It is obvious that the fungal, bacterial and archaeal flora in mofette soils must also adapt to the given circumstances. Specific adaptation mechanisms to high CO2 concentrations and low pH values are therefore to be expected, especially in these rapidly reproducing organisms. Likewise, a changed species spectrum and an increased number of endemic species should be found in these groups.
