Abstract
What is a cell? A cell in biology is the fundamental unit of life. All living entities are built from cells. Life in its essence means self-maintenance and replication. And cells are nothing more than self-maintaining, replicating droplets. Replication is performed by a sequence of biochemical reactions. To provide a separate compartment for those reactions to occur, cells are enclosed by a membrane surrounding its aqueous inner solutions.
