Abstract
Zirconium is the 40th chemical element and a hardly known metal. It was discovered in zircon and has extraordinary properties. This chapter briefly describes the discovery of the metal, pointing out that it belongs to the titanium group. The complex extraction of zirconium is explained and its properties and possible uses are shown.
