Zusammenfassung

Im Jahre 1967 wurde von Catt und Tregear erstmals die Bindung von Immunglobulinen an Kunststoffoberflächen beschrieben. Es handelte sich hierbei um die Entwicklung eines Radioimmunoassays (RIA), jedoch kann man hierin den Startpunkt für die Entwicklung von Festphasenimmunoassays auf Kunststoffoberflächen sehen. Die Festphasen-Enzymimmunoassays gehen auf das Jahr 1971 zurück. Hier berichteten Engval und Perlman und van Weemen und Schuurs unabhängig voneinander über die Entwicklung von Assays, bei denen eine Komponente an die Oberfläche von Kunststoffröhrchen gebunden war. Seitdem hat der ELISA eine rasante Entwicklung erfahren und hat Einzug in eine Vielzahl von biochemischen und biomedizinischen Arbeitsgebieten gefunden.
