Zusammenfassung
Tracheotomien sind etablierte Operationen in der Intensivmedizin und zahlreicher weiterer Fachgebiete. Im Kapitel werden die Differenzialindikationen und die fachgerechte Durchführung der verschiedenen Methoden der chirurgischen und heute gebräuchlichen perkutan dilatativen Tracheotomien Schritt für Schritt vermittelt und durch zahlreiche Bilder ergänzt. Tracheotomien erscheinen im klinischen Alltag oft als Routineeingriffe und für weniger Vertraute als vermeintlich einfache und problemlose Operationen. Der Leser wird mit dem Ablauf, den Vorteilen, typischen Schwierigkeiten und Komplikationen der einzelnen Tracheotomieverfahren vertraut gemacht, was die Entscheidungsfindung bei der Methodenwahl erleichtert. Strategien zur Vermeidung von Früh- und Spätkomplikationen werden erläutert.
