Abstract
Evaluation of toxicity in higher animals is different from that of insects in that the number of available animals for testing usually is limited. While the process for determining LD50 is identical, greater emphasis is placed on qualitative rather than quantitative aspects of poisoning. Another characteristic of toxicological tests in higher animals is that, in most cases, the overriding concern is the evaluation of safety for man.
