Abstract

Motor sports are defined as all sports involving motor-driven land or water vehicles (automobile, motorcycle, motorboat sports). Automobile sports include road racing, rally and touring car racing, auto- and rallycross and veteran car racing; motorcycle sports include road racing, enduro racing, speedway and ice speedway; motorboat sports include motorboat racing (regattas on a circuit of 1500–2000 m in length marked by turning buoys in several heats) and offshore sports, and in a broader sense also water skiing. In the following, multi-track competition craft will be the focus of consideration, Fig. 1.1.
