Abstract
The article takes a look at the interdisciplinarity of the social sciences as a cooperative and agonal mutual interrogation. Here, fundamental socio-theoretical assumptions, epistemological interests and normative preferences of different disciplines, such as sociology, economic and political science, are examined and integrated with reference to concrete social problems. Didactics and teaching methodology have a special role to play, especially because of the (politically controversial) cross-cutting character of school subjects, which are designed to be interdisciplinary. As an example, for that an integrative teaching module is presented and explored. This is characterised by problem references, agonal exchange between teachers and integrative examination requirements. The resources and capacities for integrative teaching, but also the 'necessary' egoism of the reference disciplines and their teachers are mentioned as pitfalls. The article sees interdisciplinarity as a competitive and cooperative exchange that should not end in false harmony. Teachers and students must be able to endure contradictions and understand them as inspiration.
