Abstract

The anisotropy of the cyclotron resonance and of its spin-splitting, being due to the nonparabolicity of the conduction band, is calculated systematically by performing an algebraic reduction of a 14×14 kp Hamiltonian to a 2×2 conduction band Hamiltonian. By use of an established set of band parameters for GaAs the observed anisotropy can be quantitatively explained without any fitting of parameters.
