Abstract

Three experiments relevant for optical data storage and image processing using the stimulated photon echo technique in rare earth ion doped crystals are described. These are: an apparent laser excitation energy dependence of the homogeneous dephasing time for these crystals, optical image processing on a nanosecond time scale using microjoule input energies and optical storage and recovery of multiple data bits.
