Abstract
The efficacy of treatments for inflammatory skin diseases such as psoriasis and eczema is currently assessed using clinical scoring systems based on a gradation of erythema, scaling, and infiltration. These clinical assessments, although easy and rapid to use, are never objective and seldom reproducible. Skin biopsies and other biological samples are very useful, but, since they are generally obtained by invasive methods, their use must remain exceptional.
