Zusammenfassung
Anfang 1995 erschienen die ersten Publikationen Liber das GB-Virus-C (GBV-C) und das Hepatitis- G-Virus (Simons et al. 1995; Linnen et al. 1996). Das Hepatitis-G-Virus ist ein vom GB-Virus C (GBV-C) unabhängiges Isolat (Sequenzhomologie 95%) and eng verwandt mit dem Hepatitis-C-Virus and den GB-Viren A und B(GBV-A, GBV-B) (Decker 1996). Das Genom (9392 Nukleotide) enthält einen kontinuierlichen offenen Leserahmen (ORF) and kodiert für ein Polyprotein von 2873 Aminosäuren (Linnen et al. 1996; Muerhoff et al. 1995). Das Virus wird parenteral übertragen, and in einigen Fällen akuter and chronischer Hepatitiden wurde nur HGV bzw. GB-Virus C als mögliche Ursache nachgewiesen (Simons et al. 1995; Yoshiba et al. 1995). Es ist weltweit verbreitet and kommt in der Bevölkerung je nach Risikogruppe mit unterschiedlicher Prävalenz (Blutspender 1–2%, i.v. Drogenabhängige 38%) vor, die Antikörperprävalenz liegt zwischen 9% bei Blutspendern and 40% bei i.v. Drogenabhängigen (Alter et al. 1997; Nübling et al. 1996; Star et al. 1996; Tacke et al. 1997).
