Abstract

Mathematikum is the Germany’s first mathematical science center. The article describes how it came into existence, how it is now, and what its characteristics are. Furthermore, some rather detailed and concrete advise for establishing and running such a museum are given. Finally, a few typical hands-on exhibits of the Mathematikum are described.
