Summary

Within the framework of the transition program of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG), the Institute for Aerospace Engineering (ILR) of the Dresden University of Technology (TUD) has investigated instability waves in a laminar boundary layer on a flat plate. Two dimensional Tollmien-Schlichting-Waves (TSW) have been subject of the experiments as well as oblique waves and disturbances emitted by point sources.

The measurements were performed using hot wire probes. The transition tests have been carried out in the low speed wind tunnel of TUD. This research project has been supported by the DFG under the project number GR 1388/3.
