Definitions
Anthropogenic climate change is defined as the perturbations and sustained regime changes in the climate system attributable to human-related activities, not only at industrial levels but also at agricultural and resource management levels.
Climate change mitigation consists of the human actions toward effectively counteracting the adverse symptoms of climate change by working against underlying forcing mechanisms (e.g., reducing the sources of greenhouse gases), and by enhancing depleting mechanisms (e.g., enhancing sinks of greenhouse gases, such as through carbon capture technologies or reforestation). In fundamental terms, mitigation entails acting not directly on the effects of climate change but rather on the underlying causal agents.
