Abstract

The advent of laparoscopy in the early 1990s has changed the scenario of bariatric surgery by encouraging the spread of certain procedures based on greater acceptance (compliance) of the intervention in a lot of obese patients. Bariatric surgery, also for the considerable extension of this global disease (globesity), is the branch of surgery in greater and more rapid expansion.
