Abstract

It was towards the end of the tumultuous sixties that India began drawing up its national space program with the assistance of the Soviet Union in the form of both technical advice and equipment. Specifically, Soviet scientists and technicians helped India to develop the designs, service systems and research facilities for its satellites, as well as to construct the necessary space centers and ground control complexes.
