Abstract

This paper presents a preliminary study for colorfastness prediction of dye mixtures. The objective is to be able to optimize thereafter the color formulation step in reproducing the desired shades by predicting the colorfastness of all the proposed possible dye mixtures which allows us to choose the best recipe according to the wanted properties, the type and the final application of the textile article. However, it is necessary first of all to find the good approach to predict the colorfastness of the dye mixtures which is the principal purpose of this work. Four direct dyes (CI Direct Red 227, CI Direct Orange 34, CI Direct Blue 85 and CI Direct Black 22) were used in this study for dyeing bleached woven fabrics (100% cotton).
