Abstract

The poultry sector in India has undergone a remarkable transformation in recent decades, propelling the nation to become the world's third-largest producer of eggs and the fifth-largest producer of broiler meat. Poultry meat and eggs are essential sources of high-quality protein, vitamins, and minerals needed by millions of people, particularly those in impoverished communities. These poultry products boast a commendable nutritional profile characterized by high biological value protein and low-fat content, rendering them suitable for consumption across all age groups. By incorporating poultry products into diets, individuals can potentially reduce the risk of metabolic diseases linked to the deficiency of essential dietary nutrients. When compared to alternative meat sources such as mutton and pork, poultry meat distinguishes itself through its wide availability, affordability, and enhanced nutritional benefits. Therefore, recognizing the pivotal role of the poultry sector in ensuring India's food security is of paramount importance, especially in light of the escalating demand for poultry products and ongoing investments in the sector.
