Abstract

The estimate of the detection efficiency to gamma rays for a Geiger counter is here discussed and a set of experimental data obtained with a 137Cs radioactive source, which emits both electrons and gamma rays, is analysed. Two different models of Geiger counter are employed, to investigate how much the detection efficiency may depend on the specific detection conditions.
