Abstract

This study investigated academic self-efficacy and perceived social support as potential mediators of the relationship between student learning experience and academic resilience. A sample of 187 university students from Singapore (Mage = 21.86, SDage = 3.96; 128 females, 54 males, and five undisclosed genders) who had experienced online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic responded to the online study questionnaires. The results showed that the student’s online learning experience predicted their academic resilience, and academic self-efficacy and perceived social support emerged as potential mediators of this link. These findings indicate an essential requirement for a robust online learning format in higher education institutes to provide social support and skills that boost students’ academic self-efficacy, hence supporting their academic resilience and evidently improve student’s mental health.
