Abstract

The process of oil spill response from the water surface is usually to collect the maximum amount of spilled oil in a cost-effective and environmentally friendly manner. In this paper we have conducted and described experimental studies of oil product spreading on the water surface in two principal cases, when the spill on one side is limited by a wall (for example, the spill comes from one side of the river in natural conditions) and when the spill is axisymmetric and the oil slick spreads over the surface in an unrestricted manner. The obtained experimental data were compared with the axisymmetric spreading theory.
