Abstract

As road users, motorcyclists are the most vulnerable participants on high-speed roads. The presence of motorcyclists on roads is also influenced by the nature of the seasons, when, especially during the summer months, an increased number of motorcycles is recorded. Driving motorcyclists presents a wide range of risks affecting the occurrence of various traffic collisions (they often drive at a higher speed than the permitted speed, overtake road vehicles from the right and left, do not maintain a sufficient distance). The consequences of traffic collisions involving motorcyclists are generally much more serious compared to traffic collisions involving road vehicles. The article deals with the peculiarities of traffic accidents involving motorcyclists. In addition to the safety of motorcyclists, the causes of the occurrence and distribution of traffic accidents are also described, as well as the most common types of motorcycle collisions. The paper contains an analysis of a specific accident event between a passenger vehicle and a motorcycle that occurred on a Class I road, in the outskirts of the village. This traffic accident was caught on the onboard camera. During the analysis of the accident event, the accident scene, the driving technique of the drivers, the cause of the accident, as well as the possibilities of averting the accident by road users.
