Abstract

DealShare is one of India’s fastest-growing social e-commerce start-ups, known for pioneering the community group buying model in India. DealShare’s journey started in 2018 has been remarkable, but the company still has a long way to go. As it expands nationally, it must navigate the challenges of adapting to a diverse customer base and different consumption habits, streamlining the supply chain, and attracting and retaining talent. With its innovative business model, focus on customer engagement, and retail partner empowerment, DealShare is well-positioned to capture a substantial share of the social commerce market in India. As the market changes, DealShare stands at a crossroads tasked with the challenge of constructing an online–offline hybrid business model that perpetuates growth and profitability while continuing to uplift diverse communities and transform the way Indians shop. In this case study, we explore the journey of DealShare, its unique business model, and the challenges and opportunities it faces as it expands across India.
