Abstract
This chapter provides the vitreoretinal surgeon with a concise, practical, overview of important uveal tumors that is relevant to everyday vitreoretinal surgery practice. The authors focus primarily on choroidal nevus, choroidal hemangioma, and choroidal melanoma. Clinical features, imaging characteristics, diagnosis, and management approaches are highlighted. Discussion also includes indeterminate melanocytic lesions. Emphasis is placed on the distinguishing diagnostic features of these tumors and the findings of multimodal imaging. Other tumors seen in clinical practice are also examined including congenital hypertrophy of the retinal pigment epithelium, systemic and ocular lymphoma, and retinoblastoma.
