Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate the influence of information communication technology (CT) towards the successful Ro-Ro ferry service at the Ro-Ro ferry Penang port. The Ro-Ro ferry service is the most chosen method to transport wheeled cargoes from port to port. Thus, this research aims to investigate the key factors for a successful ferry passenger vessel in the Penang port and to determine the relationship between information communication technology (ICT) towards a successful ferry operation at the Penang port. The purposive sampling method is used and with seven competent expertise and experienced respondents in the maritime sector at Penang port have contributed to this research. A Delphi survey has been employed to identify any key factors and evaluate their opinion on the relationship between the variables involved. Two rounds of 7-Likert scale Delphi questionnaires have been utilized as a research approach. In conclusion, the finding revealed that the ICT that has been analyzed plays an important role in realizing the successful Ro-Ro ferry service at the Penang port. The finding revealed that the ICT practices have a significant relationship towards the Ro-Ro ferry operation at the port of Penang, Malaysia.
