Abstract
Researchers and policymakers have increasingly emphasised the importance of managing the water-energy-food nexus as the nexus approach can support the transition towards the green economy, which aims to use resources efficiently while seeking greater policy coherence across the nexus sectors. However, the governance of water-energy-food nexus sectors remain separate, with limited attention given to their interactions. The result has been narrowly focused actions, investments, and policies that fail to reduce nexus pressures. The chapter will first discuss the components of the water-energy-food nexus before discussing the various interactions across the water-energy-food nexus. The chapter will then discuss the impacts of the water-energy-food nexus and the benefits of reducing pressures to achieve green growth. Finally, the chapter details how a green economy that reduces nexus pressures can be realised.
