Abstract

An overview of contact devices for air-flow water cooling using two-stage and multi-stage heat and humidity treatment is given. It is shown that cooling towers under these conditions are capable of cooling water to temperatures below the wet-bulb temperature of the air. On the basis of the described devices and application of I-d diagram of humid air the justification of the innovative method of water cooling to the temperature below the dew-point of air is given. The method is implemented by means of three-stage air treatment: isothermal dehumidification, indirect cooling, direct cooling.
