Abstract
It is notoriously difficult to define what data science is - even though a lot of people are talking/writing about it. Also, it sometimes appears that ‘there is nothing scientific about data science.’ Fact of the matter is that it is a valuable discipline that yields promising results for many organizations. In this chapter, the definition of data science is explored first. Furthermore, we explore the relation between data science and artificial intelligence as well as discuss how data science solutions are deployed. We end the chapter with a critical evaluation.
