Abstract
This chapter covers the four research areas of needs of people and households, quality of life, needs of businesses and the growth and change equation.
The individual research topics include improving the level of housing choice, enabling the financial and economic independence of households, enabling the economic self-determination of First Nations communities, urban amenity: improving the level of access to goods, services and jobs, improving the health of individuals and communities, reducing the cost of living, improving individual and community wellbeing, enabling cultural and artistic expression, participation and appreciation, providing access to natural and developed public places, protecting the physical amenity of homes, enabling businesses to grow, flourish and innovate, economy and spatial economic structure, protecting the physical amenity of businesses, transport and telecommunication access to support business activities, protecting natural resources, population and demographic change across a city, dwellings, commercial activities, industrial activities, retail, offices, health and education precincts, agricultural and mining activities and the growth and change equation.
Each research topic is discussed in the context of research considerations, research objectives and the approach to research.
