Abstract
Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) devices are used to deliver a constant pressure in the airways throughout the entire respiratory cycle.
CPAP is not a ventilatory modality because patients are breathing spontaneously without any respiratory support.
CPAP can be administered with high flow generators or mechanical ventilators. The former is the easiest way to deliver CPAP, although they lack respiratory monitoring.
