Abstract

“Green Transition” and sustainability are facing increasing focus in industry and society contexts. Integrating related aspects in higher education seems crucial to prepare students for their future work and to show them how innovations can be created in this area. In this regard, it is at interest if and how stakeholders from various disciplines might enrich the education process. In the article, the following question is to be answered based on the above-mentioned topic: How can innovation emerge at the interface between business and science through interdisciplinary collaboration? For this purpose, three types of academia-industry partnerships within teaching will first be presented in general. Afterwards, exemplary solutions of the Duale Hochschule Baden-Württemberg will be presented, in which solutions for the challenges of the “Green Transition” and the sustainability of students have been developed. In addition, a possibility for a curricular anchoring is described to perpetuate interdisciplinary cooperation between students. Overall, it is shown that exciting innovations can arise in different scenarios of interdisciplinary collaboration at the interface between companies/institutions and students.
