Abstract
The transmission of knowledge and stimulation of intelligence are, seemingly, not enough to motivate individuals to act to safeguard the future. Thus, the education system must sensitize them, give them a grounding in the living world, and encourage them to feel solidarity with all that lives in the world. In this way, the living can be experienced as vulnerable, and consequently be protected. However, we can go further still and give children the opportunity to participate in life – to sustain it and make it grow. The abstract sense of solidarity then becomes concrete, and the wonder they feel at the life they have helped create serves as the foundation of moral concern for the preservation of that life.
