Abstract

Smart and healthy societies are among the research areas where it is important to make progress in order to achieve the targets set by SDG 12 within the framework of the EURECA-PRO alliance [1]. For this reason, a panel discussion was held during the 2nd EURECA-PRO Conference on Responsible Consumption and Production”. This panel was attended by two expert researchers with complementary profiles that allowed a dynamic discussion on this topic: Manuel Franco, from the University of Alcal´a (Spain) and Barbara Wedler, from the University of Mittweida (Germany). The experts answered four questions related to smart and healthy societies and how they can help to achieve several of the objectives of the European Green Deal: (i) what are the challenges of smart and healthy societies on the way to achieving climate neutrality by 2050; (ii) what new opportunities will sustainable production bring in the field of smart and healthy societies; (iii) how can we promote sustainable production in the field of smart and healthy societies; (iv) how can we promote sustainable production in the field of smart and healthy societies; and (v) how can we promote sustainable production in the field of smart and healthy societies?
