Abstract
This chapter examines the state of the art and the contribution to wetland policy analysis for Ontario. Adopting a geographical and policy perspective, the importance of wetlands and the current provincial planning, preservation, and policy frameworks are discussed. The historical overview of conservation and the spatiotemporal understanding of policy and interaction pave the road for provincial sustainability. It is further fostered that the adaptation of these policies and the consistent monitoring and spatial analysis utilizing remote sensing or data inventorying are the most essential tools to guarantee the sustainability and resilience of these wetland systems in the future. In this sense, the chapter becomes an overview of the current actions and policies for wetland systems while recognizing the importance of spatial decision support, GIS, and regional analysis.
