Abstract

The second model of state formation discussed in this book is colonial one. The majority of states in the HOA trace their origin to colonialism. The overall consequence of colonialism, from a historical and evolutionary perspective of state formation, could be understood in its disruption and distortion of the natural process and transformation of those societies. In addition, colonialism grafted alien structures, institutions and norms in the societies.
