Abstract
In this chapter, focus is given to the measures and best practices recognized over the years as part of the research process. The proposals and solutions offered here are based on the research results and the knowledge gained: (1) by using different research techniques, namely expert interviews, a state of the art analysis, and quantitative questionnaire survey; and (2) based on different types of statistical analysis, namely correlations and mean comparisons, and more complex regression analysis.
Some of the knowledge the SAF could offer to military families is as follows: (1) training on stress management, parenting, the needs of children at different ages, how the children and spouses can handle the deployment, resolving interpersonal conflicts, positive communication and so on, whereby the armed forces could use different media and methods to address military families; (2) provide a positive work environment by training commanders to ensure work–life balance for employees and allow occasional work flexibility; (3) strengthening interpersonal relationships, constructive and positive communication, promoting the desired organizational culture and so on; (4) develo** indicators for the early detection of certain, usually concealed health outcomes such as depression, PTSD and excessive use of psychoactive substances; (5) learning to develop organizational skills that could facilitate (the spouse) providing logistical support to the family; and (6) informing the civilian environment, particularly workers in education, about the specifics of military service and the challenges children face during parent’s deployment.
