Abstract
Cybersecurity in the Netherlands, in a nutshell, is a trifecta of threats, selfish interests, and resilience. Cybersecurity measures can act as a critical barrier against cyber threats, although such measures cost time and money. As a result, citizens, businesses, private sectors, and government bodies must always sensibly weigh their interests when applying these cybersecurity measures. In 2011 the cracks in the system were revealed. The DigiNotar accident was one of the first Dutch digital disasters which changed the Internet’s infrastructure by telling its Internet users who and what they could trust as opposed to failure to protect the information.
