Abstract
Wheezing is among the most frequently encountered symptoms patients present with. It consists of a somewhat musical-sounding, whistling sound at a high pitch. The most mild wheeze occurs only at the end of expiration. However, as the symptom worsens, wheeze occurs throughout the expiratory phase. In more severe asthma attacks, wheezing may even occur in the inspiratory phase. However, at the highest degree of severity, there may be an absence of wheeze, because airflow has decreased to a marked degree due to the very narrow airway diameter, and exhaustion has begun to set in [1].
