Abstract
It is a branching, erect shrub attaining an height up to 1 m. This plant was introduced in India several centuries ago, and is now endemic in southern parts, and is also cultivated for commerce. It is highly drought resistant and is mainly cultivated on marginal lands. Several cultivars with higher content of desired constituents have been introduced.
