Abstract
The forests of Uttarakhand have both cultural and socioeconomic significance. The folks worship trees on various occasions such as celebrating fairs and festivals and important ceremonies. The value of forest products in Uttarakhand is high and floral diversity is rich. Forest products are important livelihood options for rural people. This chapter describes the cultural and socioeconomic significance of forests in the Uttarakhand Himalaya.
