Abstract

The issue of the risks of World Cultural and Natural Heritage Monuments, museums and archives and how we can protect them is becoming more and more imperative over the years. The current work, aims to present the role of the Hellenic Committee of the Blue Shield in Greece on the one hand and a novel practical methodology on the other, which consists of risk assessment techniques and edge technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and the Internet of Things. The article presents the holistic and easily adaptable new methodology, called INBO, while the involved intelligent agent technology and its contribution on how it saves monuments and human lives is discussed. This methodology will improve the way in which first responders and monument managers, even visitors, react to and handle risky or emergency situations. INBO enables the right prognosis along with smart decisions that will help prevent potential damage to the Cultural and Natural heritage without human loses. In other words, the proposed smart awareness and management solution, based on accurate information and the right knowledge, will be able to automatically make or propose the right actions and decisions. Furthermore, a high-level procedure is provided in the context of the methodology is presented.
