Abstract

Evaluation of arterial elasticity is still an urgent task, and the most commonly used and recommended method for this is based on the assessment of pulse wave propagations velocity (PWPV) in the arterial vessels. Unfortunately, this strategy does not fully meet modern requirements due to insufficient accuracy and instability of the results obtained. The analysis of the main sources of errors in the assessment of PWPV of arterial vessels was carried out and ways of their neutralization were proposed. The accuracy of the PWPV estimate can be improved by using the high frequency component of the pulse wave to estimate the time delay. Experimental data, obtained using the “ReoCom” rheographic complex, confirm the correctness of the proposed strategy.
