Abstract
In this chapter we evaluate the performance of the data transmission and digital communication systems developed in Chap.1 when the transmitted signals are disturbed by random noise. The transmitted waveforms in Chap.1 can be quite different. The original digital message sequence can be transmitted using analog modulation methods, such as AMVSB-SC, FSK, PSK, and DPSK, or the transmitted signals can be discrete-amplitude “baseband” pulses.
