Energy and Environmental Aspects of Emerging Technologies for Smart Grid

Abstract

Power system analysis is a very essential component of power system engineering. Basically in a power system, the major duty of the utility system is to supply power continuously without any break. However, it is often found that most of the fault cases occur in the system due to failure of the circuit breaker and relay which reduces the efficiency of the system. Out of different fault analyses, the short circuit (SC) fault analysis is the most vital and complex job in electrical power engineering. To ensure the system is reliable and stable, SC analysis is required. Therefore, from the analytical point of view, in this work, SC analysis and relay coordination are analyzed in an IEEE 14-bus power system network. The experiment is conducted using Mi-power software.
