Abstract

This paper shows the application of vulcanized rubber waste (crumb rubber and tire reclaim) in the formulations of general-purpose rubber compounds for production of waste container wheels. The comprehensive comparative studies were carried out for two types of rubber: rubber crumb and tire reclaim, with the standard rubber compound for production of waste container wheels. The addition of crumb made of moulding waste and tire reclaim into the product does not affect processing properties of the rubber compounds and does not change physical mechanical properties of the vulcanizates. These studies revealed that the rubber made of tire reclaim had high application properties: low cost as compared to the samples made of virgin rubber, lower time and energy consumption during the production of end products, high ageing resistance, and higher oxidation stability. Usage of rubber products made of tire reclaim will decrease social, economic, and environmental negative effects of the underdevelopment of municipal solid waste recycling.
